Jarrett Mann made one free throw with 10.6 seconds left and host Stanford stopped several last-second chances on the defensive end to beat embattled Southern California 54-53 Wednesday night and snap the Trojans’ eight-game winning streak.

Dwight Lewis scored 22 points for USC (10-5, 2-1 Pac-10), which took the court three days after learning from first-year coach Kevin O’Neill that the university had imposed sanctions on the program for recruiting violations involving former player O.J. Mayo.

That includes a ban on postseason play this year and the Pac-10 tournament. Landry Fields had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Cardinal (7-7, 1-1).

UCLA 76, California 75 (OT): Michael Roll picked up a loose ball and scored from 13 feet out with 1.9 seconds remaining in overtime, lifting the Bruins over the host Bears in Berkeley.

Jamal Boykin tipped away a pass from the Bruins’ Jerime Anderson. But Roll grabbed it and made his winning shot.

Roll finished with 19 points and six assists, Nikola Dragovic added 18 points and Reeves Nelson had 15 points for UCLA (7-8, 2-1 Pac-10), which won its six straight game at Berkeley.

Theo Robertson matched his career high with 24 points and had seven rebounds for the Bears.

Patrick Christopher added 14 points and nine rebounds for California (9-5, 1-1), which was coming off an impressive 26-point win over Stanford.
