Ljungberg weighs in

Seattle Sounders FC designated player Freddie Ljungberg says a return to Major League Soccer will depend on negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement in the league. Ljungberg said on his Web site Friday that he has not made a final decision on where he’ll play this spring. The league’s five-year labor contract expires Jan. 31. There have been reports that European teams have contacted Ljungberg this season, and he said on his post that it’s an honor when “top teams are interested and evidently this shows that MLS these days is a very reputable league.” Ljungberg was an All-Star and had two goals and a team-high nine assists last season. His contract with Seattle goes through the 2010 season.
