Girl, 2, dies in crash near Sandpoint

A 2-year-old girl was killed and two others were injured in a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon east of Sandpoint. Katlyn Price died after being taken to Bonner General Hospital following the 1:40 p.m. crash on state Highway 200 at Pack River. Idaho State Police said that the driver, Ashlee Price, 18, was headed west on the highway when she went off the north shoulder of the roadway and overcorrected. Her 1997 Toyota 4Runner overturned and dropped down a steep embankment on the north side of the highway, landing upside down in four feet of water. Price, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. Passersby pulled the small girl and a second child, Tyson Ruel, 5, from the vehicle. All three were taken to Bonner General. Ashlee Price was reported in stable condition today at Bonner General. Tyson Ruel was transferred on Sunday to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where he was reported in satisfactory condition today.
