Murder suspect arrested in Helena

David Nickels (Grant County Sheriff's Office )
A six-month murder investigation led Grant County detectives to a 29-year-old man in Helena this week. David E. Nickels was booked into Grant County Jail Thursday after he was arrested in Helena on Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge for the shooting death of 35-year-old Sage Munro on Dec. 29. Munro was found shot to death on his living room floor in the 100 block of E Street N.E. in Ephrata. Members of the Columbia Basin Investigation Team, a collection of detectives from local law enforcement agencies, traveled to Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana developing leads on a suspect, said John Turley, Grant County undersheriff. “There was thousands of hours and thousands of miles that were used to get this guy,” Turley said. “We are absolutely certain we have the right guy.”
