Excess phosphorus is degrading water quality in Black Lake, one of the chain lakes along the Coeur d’Alene River near Harrison.

State and federal officials, along with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, have worked together to develop a plan for improving the lake’s water quality.

Reducing phosphorus in the lake will curb the growth of nuisance plants and improve oxygen levels in the water for fish and other aquatic creatures, officials said.
