Around the country: Florida holds off Georgia

Chas Henry, a punter thrust into kicking duties, drilled a 37-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Florida Gators (5-3, 3-3 SEC) to a 34-31 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs (4-5, 3-4) on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla.

It was a redeeming moment for Henry, who has been filling in for injured kicker Caleb Sturgis and missed three field goals in close losses to LSU and Mississippi State.

Duke 34, Navy 31: Sean Renfree passed for 314 yards and a TD and ran for two scores and the Blue Devils (2-6) held off the Midshipmen (5-3) in Annapolis, Md.

Army 29, VMI 7: Jared Hassin rushed for a career-best 158 yards, including a 38-yard TD romp, and the Black Knights (5-3) defeated the Keydets (3-5) in West Point, N.Y.

San Diego State 48, Wyoming 38: Ryan Lindley passed for 365 yards and three TDs and Brandon Sullivan scored on three short runs to lead the Aztecs (6-2, 3-1 Mountain West) past the Cowboys (2-7, 0-5) in Laramie, Wyo., to become bowl eligible for the first time since 1998.

Tulsa 28, Notre Dame 27: John Flanders intercepted a pass in the end zone with 36 seconds left, stopping Notre Dame’s final drive as the Golden Hurricane (5-3) pulled off one of the biggest wins in school history, stunning the Fighting Irish (4-5) in South Bend, Ind.

Boston College 16, Clemson 10: Chase Rettig threw a 36-yard TD pass to Montel Harris and the Eagles (3-5, 1-4 ACC) stopped a five-game losing streak by holding off the Tigers (4-4, 2-3) in Boston.

Syracuse 31, Cincinnati 7: Ryan Nassib threw a pair of TD passes and the Orange (6-2, 3-1 Big East) extended their best start in nine years with a win over the Bearcats (3-5, 1-2) in Cincinnati.

Pittsburgh 20, Louisville 3: Ray Graham and Dion Lewis ran for second-half scores to lead the Panthers (5-3, 3-0 Big East) past the Cardinals (4-4, 1-2) in Pittsburgh.

Maryland 62, Wake Forest 14: Danny O’Brien threw four TD passes, Kenny Tate and Ryan Donohue each scored on interception returns and the Terrapins (6-2, 3-1 ACC) crushed the Demon Deacons (2-5, 1-4) in College Park, Md., to become bowl eligible.

Northwestern 20, Indiana 17: Dan Persa threw two TD passes before leaving with an apparent concussion and the Wildcats (6-2, 2-2 Big Ten) edged the Hoosiers (4-4, 0-4) in Bloomington, Ind., to become bowl eligible for a fourth straight season.

Penn State 41, Michigan 31: Evan Royster ran for 150 yards and two TDs and the Nittany Lions (5-3, 2-2 Big Ten) topped the Wolverines (5-3, 1-3) in State College, Pa.
