Letter: Courtney: First-team numbers

Congratulations to Courtney Vandersloot’s second-team Associated Press All-America selection.

Not taking anything away from Jeanette Pohlen’s choice as the only point guard selected to the first team, but Courtney not only broke the career record for points and assists for men and women but her average points-per- game (over 19) and over 10 assists per game, this year certainly warrants a first-team All-America selection on anybody’s score card. Not to mention the Naismith Award she received for the USA’s best player 5-foot-8 or shorter and her team leadership skills in getting the Zags to the Elite Eight.

I think if you ask anyone who played against her, they would all agree she is the epitome of a first-team All-American.
