Suspected burglar apprehended by police

A suspected burglar armed with a knife was apprehended Saturday by police investigating reports of a break-in at the Spokane Club. Brian Farrell Jones Jr., 30, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of first-degree burglary, according to the Spokane Police Department. He’s suspected of using a wooden walking stick to smash a window on a second-floor balcony of the downtown club, located at 1002 W. Riverside Ave., before fleeing. Police were contacted at 4:35 a.m. by an employee of the club, who had spotted a burglar and provided officers with a detailed description, authorities said. Jones, who matched the description of the burglar, was located by the investigating officer and taken into custody about 45 minutes later. Officers found a double-edged knife on Jones but say they didn’t recover a walking stick.
