Men’s Basketball: Jon Diebler lived up to his “3-bler” nickname by hitting 7 of 8 shots behind the arc while scoring 27 points, leading top-ranked Ohio State to a 93-65 victory over No. 10 Wisconsin on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.

Freshman Jared Sullinger added 22 points, William Buford had 18 and David Lighty 13 for the Buckeyes (29-2, 16-2 Big Ten), who got back at the Badgers (23-7, 13-5) for a painful loss a month ago.

Ohio State, which hit 6 of 7 3-point attempts while building a 15-point halftime lead, set a pair of NCAA records in the win. The Buckeyes hit 93.3 percent from 3-point range (14 of 15) and followed a miss on their first attempt with 14 straight 3s. The previous mark for consecutive 3-pointers made was 11 by Niagara in 1987.

Wisconsin drew as close as 56-45 before the Buckeyes put the game on ice. Diebler started things with a 3. He later hit one off another off an inbounds play and then dribbled around a defender and stepped back for yet another to push the lead to 69-48.

The rest of the game was a matter of killing time until the Buckeyes could cut down the nets and raise the Big Ten trophy.

• No. 20 Kentucky holds off Tennessee: In Knoxville, Tenn., Brandon Knight scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half, and No. 20 Kentucky beat Tennessee 64-58.

The Wildcats (22-8, 10-6 Southeastern Conference) finished second in the SEC East, while the Volunteers (18-13, 8-8) dropped to fifth.

Kentucky led by eight points with 11:23 to play, but Tennessee got six free throws in 45 seconds to come back. Kenny Hall hit a jumper to give Tennessee a 52-51 lead with 5:56 left.

Terrence Jones answered with a layup 36 seconds later to retake the lead for Kentucky, which used free throws and Darius Miller’s 3 to hold off the Vols.

Tobias Harris led Tennessee with 18 points.

• Indiana State beats Missouri State for MVC title: In St. Louis, Aaron Carter scored 15 points and Indiana State held top seed Missouri State to 30.5 percent shooting in a 60-56 victory in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament final.

Jake Kelly hit two clinching free throws with 1.4 seconds to go for the third-seeded Sycamores (20-13), who shot 50 percent and earned their first NCAA tournament berth since 2001.

Missouri State’s Kyle Weems, the conference player of the year, was held to 11 points on 3-for-16 shooting and got his last basket came with 11:12 to go in the first half.

No. 4 Tennessee takes SEC behind Bjorklund

Women’s Basketball: U-Hi grad Angie Bjorklund scored 23 points, including seven 3-pointers, and No. 4 Tennessee hit a school- and tournament-record 16 3-pointers to beat No. 16 Kentucky 90-65 in the Southeastern Conference championship game at Nashville, Tenn.

Victoria Dunlap and Bernisha Pinkett each had 15 points to lead Kentucky.

• Lavender leads Ohio St. past Penn St.: Jantel Lavender and Samantha Prahalis both scored 23 points, leading fifth-seeded Ohio State past second-seeded Penn State 84-70 for a record-tying third straight Big Ten tournament title at Indianapolis.

Lavender, the four-time Big Ten player of the year, finished with 23 points, 15 rebounds and six assists – extending her NCAA record of consecutive double-figure scoring games to 133. With one more she will tie Courtney Paris’ career mark for most double-digit games in a career.

• Duke claims ACC title by beating UNC: In Greensboro, N.C., Jasmine Thomas scored 21 points and No. 8 Duke won its second straight Atlantic Coast Conference tournament championship by beating No. 19 North Carolina 81-66.

Freshman Haley Peters added 14 points and Karima Christmas had 13 for the top-seeded Blue Devils (29-3). They shot 46 percent against a stingy North Carolina defense and held the Tar Heels (25-8) scoreless for 6 1/2 minutes down the stretch.

Callahan has 4 goals, 5 points in Rangers’ rout

NHL: Ryan Callahan stole the show Sunday with a career-best four goals and five points, and the New York Rangers finally found some success at home in a dominating 7-0 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.

Callahan, who had nine previous two-goal games and two four-point outbursts in the NHL, scored twice in the first period when New York built a 2-0 lead, added another in the second when the edge grew to 4-0, and netted his 20th of the season in the third with a goal off his skate.

• Rolston lift Devils over Islanders: At Uniondale, N.Y., Brian Rolston scored in the sixth round of the shootout to lift the New Jersey Devils to a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders.

Ilya Kovalchuk, who also scored in the shootout, broke a 1-1 tie with a goal at 2:52 of the final period when he moved in and beat Al Montoya.

Roddick lifts U.S. past Chile in Davis Cup

Miscellany: Andy Roddick defeated Paul Capdeville 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3, 6-3, giving the United States an insurmountable 3-1 lead in its 4-1 victory over Chile in the first-round Davis Cup World Group series at Santiago, Chile.

John Isner finished off the 4-1 victory with a 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-5 win over Guillermo Rivera-Aranguiz.

• Dokic beats Safarova: In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Australia’s Jelena Dokic beat Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 2-6, 7-6 (9), 6-4 in the Malaysian Open to earn her sixth career WTA singles title after a nine-year drought.

• Thornton agrees to new deal: White Sox lefty Matt Thornton, an All-Star reliever, agreed to a $15 million, three-year contract that adds two years and $12 million to his previous deal.

The 34-year-old Thornton went 5-4 with a 2.67 ERA and a career-high eight saves last season.

• Vonn wins third title in three days: In Tarvisio, Italy, Lindsey Vonn clinched her third discipline title in three days with a super-G victory to wrap up a memorable weekend of racing.

Vonn took the super-combined and downhill titles the past two days and has moved within 96 points of German rival Maria Riesch in the overall standings with six races remaining this season.

• Matt wins World Cup slalom: At Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, Mario Matt of Austria won his second straight World Cup slalom race and Nolan Kasper of the U.S. had the fastest second run to finish in a tie for second, a career-best showing.

Kasper finished in 1 minute, 49.28 seconds, 0.09 behind Matt. • Tamgho breaks triple jump indoor world record: Teddy Tamgho has broken his own indoor triple jump world record, leaping 58 feet, 9 1/2 inches at the European indoor championships at Paris.

• Iditarod mushers start for Nome: In Willow, Alaska, the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race restart was held with 62 teams taking off on the Iditarod Trail across a frozen lake marking the competitive portion of the 1,150-mile race toward Nome.
