Indians check Salem-Keizer on one hit

KEIZER, Ore. – Three Spokane pitchers combined to limit Salem-Keizer to one hit in a 3-2 Northwest League victory Wednesday that snapped the Indians’ four-game losing streak.

Cam Schiller had an RBI single and a solo home run for Spokane, which improved to 7-8 in the second half, and Ryan Rua added an RBI single.

Indians starter Jose Valdespina allowed two runs – one earned – and the lone hit over four innings. He struck out six and walked five.

Relievers Richard Alvarez (2-2) and Alec Asher kept the Volcanoes hitless the rest of the way, with Asher striking out four of the six batters he faced to earn his third save.

Salem-Keizer scored its two runs in the first inning. In addition to their only hit, the Volcanoes were helped by two errors, a walk and a hit batter in the inning.
