CV girls advance to regional berth

Madison Hovren scored 14 points and collected 16 rebounds as the Central Valley girls routed Wenatchee 57-21 on Tuesday night at Wenatchee High School.

The win puts the Bears in a 4A regional game Saturday at Spokane Falls Community College. CV (22-2) will face Chiawana at 4 p.m.

Brooke Gallaway added 13 points – six coming in the first quarter – for the Bears, who shut down the Panthers’ offense all night.

CV held Michaela George, who finished second in the Big 9 in scoring, to six points on 2-for-8 shooting for the night.

As a team, the Panthers hit just 2 of 23 field goals in the first half and 6 of 43 shots from the field for the game.

Chantelle Fitting led CV with seven assists.

Boys

Richland 57, Gonzaga Prep 50: Adam Baker scored 21 points and the Bombers pulled away in the second half, earning a trip to regionals and ending the visiting Bullpups’ season.

T.J. Bracey scored 13 points and Jacob Groh added 10 for Gonzaga Prep (16-8), which led 27-25 at the half.

The Bullpups won the rebounding battle 31-24, with Ryan Gregory pulling down seven boards.
