WSU men’s golf places sixth in Arizona

Washington State’s men’s golf team finished sixth and Gonzaga finished 11th at the Snowman Getaway, hosted by WSU, at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.

The Cougars shot a 2-over-par 290 in Tuesday’s final round and finished at 28-over 892. The Bulldogs shot a 301 on Tuesday and finished at 914. The University of Missouri-Kansas City won the 16-team tournament with a 13-over 877 total.

WSU’s Michael Anderson tied for 10th with a 3-over 219, Trent Sanders was 13th with a 4-over 220 and Kent Hagen, competing as an individual, tied for 15th at 6-over 222.

Gonzaga’s top finisher was Travis Johnsen, who tied for 29th with a 225.

Eastern Washington’s Ilija Cuic was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for men’s tennis and Idaho’s Molly Knox was named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.
