ATV vs. tractor collision sends man to hospital

An Usk, Wash., man was airlifted to a Spokane hospital after a crash Thursday afternoon involving an all-terrain vehicle and a farm tractor. Joseph J. Andrews, 19, was on a Polaris ATV when the 4 p.m. crash occurred, according to the Washington State Patrol. He was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center where his condition was listed as satisfactory this morning. Andrews and Lance P. Piengkham, 20, of Usk, who was on a John Deere farm tractor, were westbound on Powwow Park Road about 16 miles north of Newport. Andrews attempted to pass Piengkham and lost control. Andrews fell off the ATV and the ATV rolled and hit the tractor. Piengkham was uninjured. Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. WSP is investigating the crash.
