University principal chosen poorly

As a former student, a current resident and a patron of the Central Valley School District, since 1956, I feel qualified in vouching for the high standards and expectations the district sets for our educators.

Excellence in education has been a district goal by not only recognizing jobs well done but also rewarding the expertise and talents of educators who have made this a reality with their loyalty, hard work and creativity.

Having been an educator myself for 30 years in our Valley schools, I can tell you that our children, parents, programs and overall education benefit greatly by recognizing and advancing current educators who have excelled in achieving these goals and needs. Many have designed and implemented programs which have proven to be effective in stimulating students to want to be the best they can be. Utilizing and promoting the administrators who have loyally served Central Valley with top-notch performance should have been a priority in the recent selection of the new University High principal.

We need to hold on to these good-quality educators. Disappointing decisions such as this are why we lose good people.
