Gas line ruptured in North Spokane

Twenty-two firefighters responded to a gas leak at 3008 E. Wellesley Ave. this afternoon. A 1-inch gas line had been ruptured by “hand excavation work,” according to a Spokane Fire Department news release. Traffic was diverted, and the leak was mitigated within 30 minutes by Spokane Fire Department and Avista crews. There were no injuries. The cost of damage is estimated at about $2,000. Dispatch received the call at 3.
