Man assaulted in Spokane park; witnesses sought

A developmentally disabled man was assaulted by three people as he watched children play in Cannon Park today. Police are asking for anyone near the park at Maxwell Avenue and Oak Street at the time of 12:20 p.m. assault and “observed anything” to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233, according to a news release. The victim, who is in his 30s, is in the intensive care unit at a local hospital. He was able to find family members after the assault who contacted medics, police said. No other details were immediately available.
