Signed At the downtown Minneapolis site of the team’s current home, the Metrodome, Gov. Mark Dayton signed off on a hard-fought agreement to build the Minnesota Vikings a $975 million stadium in St. Paul, Minn. Dayton, who championed the deal, signed the bill to mostly cheers, whistles and chants of “Skol Vikings,” the team’s fight song, during a Capitol ceremony attended by team owners Zygi and Mark Wilf, business and labor leaders, construction workers and fans.

Out After less than six months on the job, Dale Hunter quit as coach of the Washington Capitals, saying he wants to return to his family, his farm and the junior club he owns in Canada. He is the owner of the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, and he was the coach until Washington general manager George McPhee beckoned in late November after firing Bruce Boudreau.

Hired Former Kentucky point guard Sean Woods was introduced as the head men’s basketball coach of Morehead State after a four-year stint at Mississippi Valley State. Woods said he envisioned a “Gonzaga of the South” at the Ohio Valley Conference school.

Cut The Chicago Bears have waived offensive tackle Levi Horn. Horn, who attended Rogers High School in Spokane, spent most of the past two seasons on the practice squad.

Retiring One of the premiere defensive line coaches in the NFL, Wayne Nunnely, is retiring after 17 seasons, the last three with the Denver Broncos. Injured Kansas City left-hander Danny Duffy is facing the likelihood of Tommy John surgery after being diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow. Duffy is the second Royals starter to go on the disabled list in less than a week. Right-hander Jonathan Sanchez was put on the 15-day DL with left biceps tendinitis.

• Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Jeff Niemann is expected to miss four to six weeks after fracturing his right leg during a game at Toronto. Niemann was struck on the ankle by Adam Lind’s drive in the first inning.
