Will Wren scored with 6 minutes left in the match to lift the 16th-ranked Whitworth Pirates (5-0-1, 2-0) to a 1-0 victory over the visiting Willamette Bearcats (3-3-1, 0-1-1) in Northwest Conference men’s soccer action Sunday.

Pirates keeper Kyle Novak only had to make one save to preserve his fifth shutout of the season.

Women’s soccer

Jocelyn Jeffers scored a goal 21 seconds into the match and capped the scoring with a goal at 82:04 to propel the Washington State Cougars (6-1) to a 5-1 nonconference win over the Idaho Vandals (2-8) in Moscow.

WSU also had goals from Micaela Castain, Brandi Vega and an own goal. Idaho’s lone score came in the 19th minute by Katie Baran.

• Amy Sterk and Tiara Pajimola scored second-half goals to spark the Whitworth Pirates (3-4, 3-0) to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Willamette Bearcats in Northwest Conference play.

• Danielle Jones found the net in the 37th minute and Cassie Black scored 4 minutes into the second half to propel the Eastern Washington Eagles (3-5-1) to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Hawaii Rainbow Wahine (5-3-2).

• The Oregon Ducks (4-2-1) scored three unanswered goals to rally for a 4-2 nonconference win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs (5-5) in Eugene, Ore.

Lauren Luke and Sila Tuiofea scored for GU.

Junior hockey

The visiting Spokane Braves defeated the North Okanagan Knights 3-2, rallying for the KIJHL victory after trailing by two goals in the first period.

Taylor Everhart, Tyler Peltram and Austin Gabriel scored for Spokane. Mitch Tyson had 23 saves and the Braves held the Knights scoreless over the final 52 minutes.
