Samuel Engle scored a pair of goals late in the second half and Kyle Novak made one save as the 11th-ranked Whitworth Pirates (7-0-1, 4-0) posted their seventh shutout in eight matches this season with a 2-0 victory over the Pacific Boxers (3-6, 1-3) in Northwest Conference men’s soccer action on Sunday in Forest Grove, Ore.

Engle took a pass from Will Wren in the 70th minute to break a scoreless tie and added his second goal of the match – and season – in the 87th minute with an assist from Colin Shockman.

• Andrew Owenson scored with 1 second left in the second overtime to lift the Gonzaga Bulldogs (4-3) to a 3-2 win over the Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix (2-6-1) on the final day of the Hensor/Zaher Soccer Classic in Corvallis, Ore.

Nate Pacheco and Casey Ames also scored for the Bulldogs, who open West Coast Conference play on Wednesday at the Portland Pilots.

Cassie Black found the back of the net in the 51st minute and the Eastern Washington Eagles (4-5-1, 1-1) rallied for a 2-1 win over the Idaho State Bengals (5-4-1, 0-1-1) in Big Sky Conference action in Cheney.

Kasey McNeill also scored for EWU, which fell behind 1-0 just 22 seconds into the match.

• The UNLV Rebels (8-2-1) scored the only goal on an own goal by the Idaho Vandals (3-9) en route to a 1-0 nonconference win in Las Vegas.

• Mackenzie Grow scored on a penalty kick in the first half and Jackie Day delivered a goal in the 58th minute to carry the Whitworth Pirates (5-4, 5-0) to a 2-0 victory over the Pacific Boxers (4-2-3, 2-2-1) in Northwest Conference play in Forest Grove, Ore.

• The 23rd-ranked Santa Clara Broncos (6-2-3) scored three times in the second half and cruised to a 3-0 nonconference victory over the Washington State Cougars (6-2-1) in Santa Clara, Calif. The Broncos are 7-0-1 all-time against WSU.

Junior hockey

Alex Marmon scored the go-ahead goal with 2:13 left to play to rally the Spokane Braves to a 4-2 win over the visiting Grand Forks Border Bruins in KIJHL action.
