SR 291 opens again after fire

Washington state Route 291 northwest of Spokane is open again following a fire that resulted in its complete blockage for more than a day. The fire, six miles northwest of Spokane, started Tuesday afternoon about 2:45. All lanes were blocked for firefighting efforts and because of falling debris on the steep terrain. The lanes reopened Wednesday evening, according to the Washington State Patrol.
