It’s been a freshman year to remember for Eastern Washington wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

Just two days after winning the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Kupp was named to The Sports Network All-America first team on Wednesday.

Kupp, a redshirt freshman from Yakima, is only the fifth freshman since 1990 to be named a first-team selection, and is one of only two freshman wide receivers to be named to the first team; the other was Randy Moss of Marshall in 1996.

Eagles sophomore quarterback Vernon Adams and cornerback T.J. Lee III were named to the TSN second team.

Adams was the runner-up for the Walter Payton Award, while Lee was only the third player in school history to earn first-team all-Big Sky Conference honors three times.

Kupp broke the FCS all-time record for receptions, yards and touchdowns by a freshman with current totals of 85 catches, 1,567 yards and 21 TDs (previously held by Moss). His yardage is 13th overall in FCS history and his TD catches are fourth.

Adams threw a Big Sky and school-record 53 touchdown passes lead the nation and are third all-time in FCS. He was second in the nation with an average of 367.1 yards of total offense per game.

Lee is in sole possession of the school record for career forced fumbles with seven and has four this season to rank 22nd in FCS in average per game (0.29).

Montana State defensive end Brad Daly and and Cal Poly defensive tackle Sullivan Grosz also earned first-team honors.

Later Wednesday, the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Foundation both named Kupp and senior center Ashton Miller to their first teams.

Adams and Lee were named to the AP second team.
