Some of the coldest temperatures of the winter so far are forecast for the next few days throughout Washington. The National Weather Service says Eastern Washington lows are expected in the single digits over the weekend with highs in the 20s from a strong northerly flow that’s now anchored over the Inland Northwest. Spokane and Coeur d’Alene are going to see lows in the 12 to 15 degree range and highs in the lower 20s through Sunday. Only light winds are expected with partly cloudy skies. Snow across the region overnight Thursday and Friday morning left 8 inches on the ground in Winchester, Idaho, on the Camas Prairie southeast of Lewiston. Spokane International Airport had about 2 inches of snow from 0.12 inches of water equivalent in the precipitation. The snow came in two periods - one on Thursday evening and another in the early morning hours. Elsewhere in Eastern Washington, wind chill readings could drop the feeling of the cold on the skin down to five or six below zero overnight, mainly in the Okanogan County and the upper Columbia Basin, which are exposed to northerly winds. The dry weather should persist into next week, but temperatures will moderate by Tuesday so that highs are closer to 30 in Spokane. Snow flurries are expected Saturday night in Western Washington.
