News of another oral commitment broke (May 18) – though this one is from a player who plans to arrive this season.

Scout.com reported  the commitment of junior-college safety Paris Taylor,  who is listed as 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds. Taylor told Scout.com that he’s signed a letter of intent and plans to arrive  in Pullman this summer as a member of the 2013 class. He’s coming off a torn ACL, but said he plans to be at full strength this summer.

Daniel Jenkins announced months ago that he planned to transfer from Arizona to Washington State for his final season of eligibility. But it appears that Jenkins now  plans to remain at Arizona.

• Jake Rodgers, a fourth-year junior who attended Shadle Park High School in Spokane, has chosen not to play for the Cougars next season.

Rodgers missed all of spring practice this year while recovering from an injury, but figured to compete for playing time if he returned healthy in the fall. WSU coach Mike Leach touted the team’s bolstered offensive-line depth throughout the spring, noting that the Cougars were able to field two full five-man units, something they couldn’t do last year when injuries and defections hurt their numbers.

Rodgers’ departure leaves WSU’s roster with five players from Spokane high schools: offensive linemen Elliott Bosch (Ferris) and Joe Dahl (University), quarterback Connor Halliday (Ferris), receiver Conner Johnson (University), and safety Mitchell Peterson (West Valley).
