LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – DaVonte Lacy scored 16 points, Royce Woolridge had 14, and Washington State beat Purdue 69-54 in the Old Spice Classic consolation round on Friday.

The Cougars (3-3) also got 13 points from Jordan Railey in stopping a three-game losing streak. They will play St. Joseph’s in the consolation championship game.

Terone Johnson had 16 points for Purdue (5-2).

Purdue entered the game averaging 86.3 points.

“It was a great defensive effort,” WSU coach Ken Bone said. “That’s what I’m most proud of, personally. That’s a great team. They have a lot of firepower.”

D.J. Shelton had a pair of 3s to key a second-half opening 14-2 run that put Washington State up 31-29 with 16 minutes left. Lacy’s 3-pointer gave the Cougars a 49-44 lead 13 minutes into the half.

“They started knocking down shots and playing together as a team,” Purdue guard Bryson Scott said of Washington State. “We still could have stopped it, but we didn’t do a good job on defense as a team. We forced a lot of shots that allowed them to keep that momentum.”

Shelton finished with 12 points.

The Washington State advantage grew to 11, at 59-48, when Railey had a three-point play and then had an assist on Dexter Kernich-Drew’s layup with 21/2 minutes left.

The Cougars made just 6 of 27 shots (22.2 percent) during the opening half. They went 19 of 29 (65.5 percent) in the second.

“We didn’t put our heads down,” Lacy said. “We knew we were getting good shots. We just weren’t making them. I think we came out in the second half and shared the ball a lot more. Also, we were attacking.”

Saint Joseph’s 78, Siena 66: Langston Galloway scored 27 points, Ronald Roberts added 19, and the Hawks (3-2) beat the Saints (2-6) in a consolation round game. Galloway, with 16 points, was among three Saint Joseph’s (3-2) players scoring in double figures. The Hawks led 46-26 at halftime.

(21) Memphis 76, LSU 69: Austin Nichols scored 19 points, Chris Crawford had 17 and Memphis (4-1) beat LSU 76-69 in a semifinal. Joe Jackson added 16 points for Memphis, which will play No. 5 Oklahoma State in Sunday night’s championship game. Memphis’ only loss this season came to Oklahoma State, which won handily 101-80 on Nov. 19.

(5) Oklahoma State 69, Butler 67: Marcus Smart scored 17 points as the Cowboys (7-0) survived a major scare in a win over the Bulldogs (5-1). The Cowboys’ Le’Bryan Nash made it 69-67 by hitting 1 of 2 from the line before Butler’s Elijah Brown had his last second 3-point shot blocked.
