Obituary: Duer, Donald Ivan

Age 83

DUER, Donald Ivan (Age 83) Born May 31, 1930 Bradwell, Saskatchewan, Canada; died August 20, 2013, Spokane, Washington.

Don was a devoted husband and father.

He committed his life serving the needs of others.

He chose the USAF to serve his country in both Korea and Vietnam.

After being a medic in Korea, he married Evelyn Sutherland Duer, reenlisted as a nurse anesthetist and retired as Major in 1974 after 23 years of service.

Having traveled the world, Don and Evelyn chose Spokane to build their home and raise their family.

Don and Evelyn were married 42 years when she died in 1996.

Years later, he married Bonnie Patton Duer who died earlier this year.

Don’s four older brothers have also died.

Don is survived by his younger sister, Jean Thomason, his children John and Cindy, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and soon to be one more.

Don was a 32nd degree Mason, a leader and teacher by quiet example.

He was a charitable and kind man that touched many people.

Don has requested a private gathering.
