PULLMAN – Washington State University President Elson S. Floyd likely will recommend no tuition increase again for fall 2014, he told the board of regents on Friday, marking the second year in a row with no increases for resident undergraduate students.

“With the appropriations that we’ve received, we can manage yet another year to complete this biennium without a tuition increase at the undergraduate level,” Floyd said.

The regents also approved requesting about $15 million in the state supplemental budget during the 2014 session of the state Legislature during the board’s meeting in Pullman.

The $10.3 million supplemental capital budget request includes $5.3 million to fund the design of the second phase of the Global Animal Health Complex.

The supplemental operating budget request, totaling $5.1 million, includes $3.6 million for maintenance and operations funding through 2015 for the newly constructed Vancouver Applied Technology Classroom Building, the Pullman Veterinary Medical Research Building and the Spokane Riverpoint-Biomedical Health Sciences Building.
