Obituary: Giles, Marion

GILES, Marion Marion Giles, age 83, passed away in Spokane, WA on September 27, 2013.

Marion was born in Canada to a Scottish mother and an American father, Earl and Isabelle Eastwood.

She lived in Canada five of her first seven years.

At age seven, her family moved to Kalispell, MT.

During WWII she moved with her family to Tacoma, WA.

The family moved back to Kalispell where she completed High School in 1948.

She first met her husband Burt in Kalispell when she was 12 years old.

They met again and began dating when he returned from the Navy.

They eloped and were married in Shelby, MT on September 3, 1947.

They lived in Glacier Park, Kalispell, and Whitefish, MT.

Then, in 1963 they moved with their children to Spokane, WA.

Burt and Marion moved to Auburn, WA in 1984.

Following Burt’s death in 2002, Marion moved back to Spokane.

She worked for many years at Kershaws in Spokane as a book keeper then office manager.

She worked in Auburn, WA as an office manager at the Mental Health Association.

She loved to knit, crochet, and play pinochle.

She volunteered for over 20 years and was on the board of directors at the Spokane Crisis Intervention Center.

Marion was also a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by three sons; Dennis E. (Kathy) Giles, Fort Worth, TX, Donald E. (Lori) Giles, Redwood, CA, Robert M. (Cindy) Giles, Spokane, WA; brother John E. (Cher) Eastwood, Casper, WY; grandchildren Douglass E. Giles, Brian E. Giles, and Richard D. Giles, all of Spokane, WA, Maureen A. Giles, Fort Worth, TX, Theodore E. Giles, Arlington, TX, Andrew J. Giles, Redwood, CA; sister-in-law Betty Ann Matheny, Puyallup, WA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewis B. Giles, and grandchildren Rachel S. Giles, Jeromy R. Giles, and Robert J. Giles.

A time of visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 10 am to 5 pm and again on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

A funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 3:30 pm.

A second service will be held at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell, MT on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11 am to be followed by interment at Conrad Memorial Cemetery, Kalispell, MT.
