MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee has issued statements from coach Rick Stockstill and senior linebacker Roderic Blunt apologizing for Blunt’s actions in Monday’s Armed Forces Bowl.

Blunt was ejected from Middle Tennessee’s 24-6 loss to Navy following two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

“I have strived to run a first-class program and I do not condone this type of play,” Stockstill said in a statement Tuesday.

Stockstill said he called Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo and quarterback Keenan Reynolds as well as Armed Forces Bowl executive director Brant Ringler to apologize.

Blunt apologized to Reynolds, Navy and his own teammates and coaches. Blunt said “it was my last college game and emotions were at an all-time high. But there is still no excuse for my actions and know this is not a reflection of Blue Raider football.”
