College basketball: Wolverines upset No. 3 Badgers in Wisconsin

Nik Stauskus scored 23 points and hit a key 3-pointer with 48 seconds left, and Michigan (13-4, 5-0 Big Ten) fended off a late surge for a 77-70 win Saturday over No. 3 Wisconsin (16-2, 3-2) in Madison, Wis.

Caris LeVert added 20 for the Wolverines, who held on for their first road win at Wisconsin since 1999.

(2) Syracuse 59, (22) Pittsburgh 54: Freshman point guard Tyler Ennis scored 16 points, including two driving layups and two free throws in the final 2 minutes, and the Orange (18-0, 5-0 ACC) beat the Panthers (16-2, 4-1) in Syracuse, N.Y.

(4) Michigan State 78, Illinois 62: Gary Harris scored 23 points and Denzel Valentine snared 11 rebounds to lead the Spartans (17-1, 6-0 Big Ten) past the Illini (13-6, 2-4) in Champaign, Ill.

(5) Wichita State 68, Indiana State 48: Ron Baker scored 16 points, Fred VanVleet added 15 and the Shockers (19-0, 6-0 Missouri Valley) beat the Sycamores (14-4, 5-1) in Wichita, Kan.

(6) Villanova 88, DePaul 62: James Bell had 17 points and eight rebounds, Ryan Arcidiacono scored 14, and the Wildcats (16-1, 5-0 Big East) won their fifth straight, beating the Blue Demons (10-9, 2-4) in Villanova, Pa.

(7) Florida 68, Auburn 61: Casey Prather scored 21 points in his return from a knee injury and helped the Gators (15-2, 4-0 SEC) survive a scare from the Tigers (8-7, 0-4) in Auburn, Ala.

Texas 86, (8) Iowa State 76: Jonathan Holmes scored 23 points and Cam Ridley had 16 points and 11 rebounds and the Longhorns (14-4, 3-2 Big 12) sent the visiting Cyclones (14-3, 2-3) to their third straight loss.

(15) Kansas 80, (9) Oklahoma State 78: Naadir Tharpe scored 21 points for Kansas (13-4, 4-0 Big 12), and Frank Mason stripped Oklahoma State’s Le’Bryan Nash as the final buzzer sounded to preserve the Jayhawks’ victory over the Cowboys (15-3, 3-2) in Lawrence, Kan.

(10) San Diego State 63, UNLV 52: Xavier Thames scored 18 points and the Aztecs (16-1, 5-0 Mountain West) used a 19-2 run to defeat the Rebels (11-7, 2-3) in San Diego.

(25) Oklahoma 66, (12) Baylor 64: Buddy Hield scored all 19 of his points after halftime and the Sooners (14-4, 3-2 Big 12) upset the Bears (13-4, 1-3) in Waco, Texas.

North Carolina 82, Boston College 71: Marcus Paige scored 21 points and the Tar Heels (11-6, 1-3) beat the Eagles (5-13, 1-4) in Chapel Hill, N.C., to avoid their first 0-4 start in ACC play.

Butler 69, Marquette 57 (OT): Khyle Marshall and Kellen Dunham each scored 18 and the Bulldogs (11-7, 1-5 Big East) snapped a five-game skid with a win over the Golden Eagles (10-8, 2-3) in Indianapolis.
