There was a puzzling incident at the George Gee car dealership in Liberty Lake on Jan. 17: Someone broke the windows out of three cars, causing hundreds of dollars in damage.

“They didn’t take anything,” said Liberty Lake Police Chief Brian Asmus. “There’s nothing to take. But they broke the windows out.”

• A woman who told police she is trying to turn her life around may be facing jail time after she was found passed out in a car near Gateway Park the evening of Jan. 14. She reportedly told police she was under the influence of marijuana and spice, Asmus said. A substance was confiscated and if tests reveal that it’s spice, a synthetic marijuana, she will face felony drug charges, Asmus said.

• Police were called to the Liberty Lake Athletic Club just before 6 p.m. on Jan. 13 after a woman collapsed while working out. Bystanders performed CPR until paramedics arrived, then they attempted to resuscitate her for 35 minutes as well, Asmus said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. “I think there was a doctor there when it happened,” he said. “They couldn’t bring her back.”

• Jan. 13: The theft of a driver’s license, identification card and credit cards was reported in the 1300 block of North Liberty Lake Road.

• Jan. 15: A man was arrested after fleeing from a traffic stop and then running from police on foot. A police K-9 with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest. The man was charged with eluding a police officer, possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest.

• Jan. 16: A woman netted more than $100 from Walgreen by taking an expensive curling iron off the shelf and then returning it, claiming she didn’t have a receipt. She was given an in-store credit for the item, which she immediately used.

• Jan. 19: A man inside Safeway got a $2.47 bag of chicken gizzards and ate them before trying to leave the store without paying. The man claimed he had simply forgotten to pay.

• Arrests: Police made five arrests for driving with a suspended license.

• Citations: Officers handed out four citations for expired vehicle registration, three for failure to show proof of liability insurance, nine for speeding and four for use of a cellphone. Additional citations were given for driving without a license with identification and failure to wear a safety belt.
