Police find pipe bomb outside Coeur d’Alene middle school

Coeur d’Alene police are asking for the public’s help identifying those responsible for a pipe bomb found outside a middle school Monday morning. Authorities responded to Lakes Middle School at 930 N. 15th St. around 7:30 a.m., according to a news release. They found a suspicious device, later identified as a pipe bomb, on the west side of the school. Explosives experts from the Spokane Police Department arrived at the school, which was unoccupied, and safely detonated the device, Coeur d’Alene police said. Authorities are reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to identify those responsible. Anyone with information about the device is asked to contact the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at (208) 769-2320.
