PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – It was the Mitch Holmberg show Saturday night.

The Spokane star tallied a history-laden hat trick to propel the Chiefs to an 8-0 win over the Prince George Cougars in Western Hockey League play.

Holmberg became the first Chief to score 60 regular-season goals since Valeri Bure totaled a team-record 68 in the 1992-93 season.

With four games left, Holmberg is tied with Pat Falloon (1989-90) for fifth place in Chiefs’ history. Falloon also had 64 in the 1990-91 season.

Holmberg has 145 career goals – one behind Falloon’s team record. Holmberg has 113 points this season, which ties Ray Whitney for seventh place on Spokane’s all-time list.

The Chiefs improved to 38-24-3-3 for 82 points. They remain two points behind Seattle for fourth place and one point ahead of Everett for fifth.

The Chiefs’ next two games are at Seattle on Tuesday and at home against Everett on Wednesday.
