Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who tried to break into an occupied home in Newman Lake at 2 a.m. Tuesday. The homeowner in the 26000 block of East Eastland Drive heard his alarm chirp several times. He at first thought his cat set it off, then let his dog outside, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office press release. When the man let the dog out, he noticed that his garage door was open. He spotted a man jumping over the fence and gave chase briefly. The homeowner told police that his dog may have bitten the man because he was limping. A police dog tracked the man as far as the Idaho state line. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Crime Stoppers tip line at (800) 222-TIPS.
