Animals seized from north Spokane County property

(SCRAPS)
A horse, pig and two sheep were seized from a property north of Deer Park today after the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service served a search warrant on the property owner. SCRAPS received a complaint about an emaciated horse at the site on the 26800 block of North Dalton Road, said SCRAPS director Nancy Hill. Animal control officers visited to inspect the animals and then got the warrant to seize them, Hill said. “It was pretty grim,” she said. The other animals appeared to be in better condition than the horse. “We’ll know more after they’re examined by a veterinarian,” she said. The investigation is ongoing, and a decision on whether to file charges against the animals’ owners will likely be made next week, Hill said.
