CHRYSLER, Russell Loren (Age 105) Russell Loren Chrysler of Moscow died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Aspen Park Healthcare in Moscow.

He was 105.

He was born October 21, 1908 at Duluth, Minnesota to Riley Loren and Marie Victoria Westerlund Chrysler.

Russ grew up in Minneapolis and as a young man worked as a social worker.

On September 6, 1941 he married Esther Bernice Larson and was a clerk in the US Army.

Post War, Russ attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where he received his PhD.

In 1949 they moved to Los Angeles where he taught at Los Angeles City College.

The move to Moscow was in 1959 when he accepted a position with the University of Idaho.

He taught in the College of Business and served as Dean for a time.

He retired in 1974.

Friends and family will remember Russ as an optimist, always focusing on the good side of people.

He always had a twinkle in his eyes and smile for everyone.

He loved nature and was known to wax poetically about the Creator and the small glories of nature.

Russ was an advocate for World peace, politically aware and enjoyed a good debate and was dedicated to education.

Russ enjoyed good food and a glass of wine in a fine crystal wine glass.

His musical favorite was the opera; however the “Lawrence Welk Show” was at the top of his TV list.

His family and large circle of friends feel blessed to have known him.

He will be missed but remembered with warm thoughts and humor.

He was preceded by his wife in 1975.

Surviving are his children, Marlene, Paul and Stephen Chrysler; his grandchildren, Lisa Donahue, Denise Fherenkamp, Stephen, Mark and Alley Chrysler; great-grandchildren, Zacherie, Joshua, Erin, Mather D., Tom, Kelly, Jeanna, Jessica, Jake and Mathew F; His great-great-grandchildren are, Justin, Wyatt, Ryan, Derek, Romeo, Colt, Ryder; and at last a great-great-granddaughter on the way.

At a date to be announced, he will be commemorated at the United Church of Moscow.

There will also be a memorial service at the University of Idaho, yet to be determined.

His final resting place will be in the family plot at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Chrysler Marketing Scholars Fund at the University of Idaho.
