Man surrenders after standoff in Nine Mile Falls

Spokane police spent several hours Saturday morning attempting to get a barricaded suspect to come out of a Nine Mile Falls home.

Blaze E. Smith, 43, finally surrendered after the SWAT team released a chemical agent inside the home, police said in a news release.

Police tracked a stolen vehicle to the home in the 13000 block of West Pine Bluff Road in Nine Mile Falls around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. Smith initially refused to come out and the SWAT team was called, police said.

Smith was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

He was also wanted on several warrants.
