Obituary: Balfour, Dr. James Norman

Age 89

BALFOUR, Dr. James Norman (Age 89) James was born May18, 1925 to Kathleen E. and Norman J. Balfour in Spokane, Washington.

He passed away October 1, 2014.

James grew up in Eugene, Oregon and after graduation from high school enlisted in the Army in October 1944.

There he entered flight school and became a co-pilot on a B-17as 2nd Lt.

While serving in England he received the Air Medal with one Bronze Star for meritorious actions under combat.

He attended University of Oregon and after graduation married Patricia Colerick.

They moved to Spokane where they had two sons, Paul James Balfour and Jeffery Brian Balfour.

James worked at Deaconess Hospital for 35 years as the Chief Lab Technologist.

He loved the outdoors, fly fishing and backpacking in the Northwest.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
