Chiefs aquire forward Devon McAndrews from Tri-City Americans

The Spokane Chiefs acquired 19-year-old forward Devon McAndrews from the Tri-City Americans in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, it was announced on Monday.

McAndrews, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound left wing from Edmonton, scored three goals and five assists in 54 games over two seasons with the Americans, adding 53 penalty minutes.

“With our current injury situation, we have an opportunity for Devon to come in and help us and our group of forwards,” said Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz. “Devon plays the left side and has good size, which fills two needs for our team right now.”

The Chiefs also announced the release of 18-year-old forward Spencer Meyer. Meyer appeared in three games for Spokane.

The roster moves, along with the expected reassignment of 15-year-old forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan following Friday night’s game, leaves Spokane’s roster at 25 players, including 15 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.

The Chiefs go on the road today to face the Seattle Thunderbirds before returning home to host the T-Birds on Wednesday.
