Obituary: Harding, Lieselotte Justine “Lotte”

Age 92

HARDING, Lieselotte Justine “Lotte” Passed away peacefully September 7th.

Born November 7, 1921 in Augsburg, Germany to Willibald and Margarete Hosp.

She was the youngest of four children and the only daughter.

Lotte worked with her mother in the family butcher shop during the war while her brothers Willibald, Gustel and Karl served in the German military.

She married a G.I.

and sailed to America on November 16, 1948 on the S.S. Edmund B. Alexander arriving in New York on November 27, 1948.

Lotte moved to Sprague, WA in the early 50’s and met Richard Harding whom she married on July 28, 1956.

She became a naturalized U.S. citizen on May 25, 1959 in Spokane.

Richard and Lotte were active in the Grange Association, The Washington Cattleman’s Association, Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and traveled extensively visiting Germany frequently to see family and friends until Richard’s death in 2003.

Richard and Lotte never had children of their own but were active participants in raising their five nephews, Terry (deceased), Thomas, Douglas, Donald and Joseph Harding and two nieces, Kitty Perry and Judy Shepard.

Lotte continued to live in the home that Richard built in 1957 on the Harding family farm until the fall of 2013.

She worked in a nursing facility in Ritzville for many years, was a Girl Scout leader and baby sat for families throughout the area.

A Viewing and Rosary will be held for Lotte Monday, September 15 at 6:00 pm and Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Sprague, WA at Mary Queen of Heaven Parish.

Interment will be at Macabee Cemetery.

DANEKAS FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY-Ritzville is entrusted with arrangements.
