Montana’s Ellis Henderson returns to field after illness

Associated Press

MISSOULA, Mont. – Montana wide receiver Ellis Henderson will be back on the field and back in school this fall after a battle with depression that he says brought him to the brink of suicide.

Henderson told the Missoulian a combination of medication and working with a therapist is helping him deal with chronic depression.

Henderson says he’d previously struggled with bouts of deep sadness, but in the spring of 2014 he was spending days in his bedroom … (and) began thinking of ways to end his life.

Ellis continued to struggle and played in four games before withdrawing from school.

He says he’s thankful to be back.
