Prep wrestling: Tate Orndorff helps U-Hi to third place at Rocky Mountain Classic

University’s Tate Orndorff claimed the heavyweight title and the Titans took third place at the Rocky Mountain Classic Saturday in Missoula.

Orndorff pinned Helena Capital’s Alan Schmitz in 1 minute, 8 seconds.

Central Valley had two weight-class champions. Bryson Beard defeated Great Falls’ Jarren Komac 2-0 at 126 pounds and Blake Beard defeated Columbia Falls’ Shonn Roberts 3-1 at 138.

Havre won the team title, followed by Great Falls, U-Hi, CV and Missoula.

• Post Falls’ Seth McLeod took the 182-pound title and led the Trojans to a third-place finish at The Rumble in Orem, Utah.

North Central, which took seventh place, also had a weight-class champion in Izaec Quintanilla, who won at 160.

Pleasant Grove took the team title. Maple Mountain was second, followed by Post Falls, Wasatch and Delta.

• Host Lakeland had four individual champions and claimed first place at the Van Tuinstra meet in Rathdrum. William Edelblute (98 pounds), Larry Johnson (113), Jared Walker (170) and Conor Shepherd (220) all won for the Hawks.
