Man arrested after car chase, river swim

Associated Press

LEWISTON – Idaho State Police say they have arrested a man who led them on a wild high-speed chase on U.S. Highway 95 during which he dodged spike strips and police bullets, plunged down an embankment, swam the Clearwater River and ran off into the woods.

State police spokeswoman Theresa Baker said at one point Thursday, the fleeing man rolled the stolen pickup truck he was driving and kept going. The chase reached more than 90 mph.

State police arrested David R. Pegram, 31, of the Boise area for investigation of felony eluding.
