Sekou Wiggs decides to leave Vandals basketball

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho sophomore guard Sekou Wiggs announced Monday night on his Instagram account that he is leaving the Idaho basketball program.

Wiggs informed Idaho coach Don Verlin of the decision, who confirmed it on Tuesday saying “Sekou has decided to leave the program. We wish him the best.”

“I’ve Been On An Amazing Journey With This Team And It’s Going To Be Tough Leaving My Brothers!” Wiggs posted on his Instagram account.

Wiggs told the Moscow-Pullman Daily News he intends to transfer to a program where he feels he is a better fit offensively.

“I needed to go to another school where I could play my game up-and-down, to my strengths,” he told the Daily News. “I feel like Idaho is a great place but as far as playing to my strengths as a player which is playing fast, playing up-and-down and being athletic, I felt like it wasn’t the right fit for me to do that.”

He does not yet know what school he will transfer to.

Wiggs averaged 11.5 points per game in his sophomore season as a starting shooting guard.
