Andrews leads Washington past Seattle Pacific 98-80

SEATTLE – Andrew Andrews scored 21 points, Noah Dickerson added 17 and Washington debuted its young and overhauled roster with a 98-80 exhibition win over Division II Seattle Pacific on Thursday night.

Andrews, the only senior on Washington’s roster, made 6 of 12 shots as the Huskies pulled away in the second half. Andrews started with four freshmen and had eight players make their debuts. The Huskies played with energy and pushed the tempo but also made youthful mistakes in their only tune up before next week’s season opener against Texas in Shanghai. The Huskies finished with six players in double figures.

Brendan Carroll led SPU with 28 points and the Falcons closed within 60-55 with 13:12 remaining on Gilles Dierickx layup. But the Huskies scored 15 of the next 20 points, capped by Dejounte Murray’s breakaway dunk. Murray finished with 16 points.
