ADAMS, Jean Amy (Age 91) Jean Amy Adams passed away Monday, November 2, 2015.

The daughter of Raymond E. and Helen Smith Amy, she was born February 2, 1924, in Lafayette, Oregon.

She spent her early years in Portland, Oregon, before moving to Spokane where she gained a stepfather, Elmer Himes, and stepbrother, Donald Himes.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1942 and worked as a dental assistant.

On May 16, 1944, she married fellow classmate, Robert M. Adams, beginning a loving marriage that extended over 70 years.

The couple followed Bob’s military career around the country before returning to Spokane at the end of World War II.

She loved her adopted hometown of Spokane and held a lifelong interest in Spokane and Washington history.

She was recognized as a 30 year volunteer for the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture.

She was a Camp Fire leader and past president of Pro America.

A founding member of both Plymouth and Heritage Congregational Churches, she served on the national mission committee for the Congregational Church.

A loyal Tiger, she coordinated class reunions and maintained the records for the Class of ‘42.

Together, she and Bob built a summer cabin on the Pend Oreille River which has been the location for many happy family memories.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennie (Jim) Rose, Topeka, KS; son, Kenneth (Debbie) Adams, Spokane; five grandchildren: Deke (Nicole) Adams and John (Amy) Rose, Spokane; Staci (Jon) Bickelhaupt, Pullman; Carrie (Matt) Camel, Fort Belvoir, VA; and Katie (Pat) Malone, Nashville, TN; and nine (soon to be ten) great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

She is also survived by her extended Adams family-in-laws and much loved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 9, at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1502 W. 8th, Spokane, 99204.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church or the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, 2316 W. 1st, Spokane, WA.
