Volleyball roundup: Gonzaga sweeps Portland

Savannah Blinn had 15 kills and McKayla Ferris added 10 kills and eight digs as Gonzaga swept Portland in a West Coast Conference match Saturday in Spokane. Scores were 25-20, 25-23 and 26-24.

Tiyana Hallums added a career-high 19 digs for the Bulldogs, who won for just the second time in their past seven matches.

The Pilots fell to 11-10 overall and 1-8 in conference matches. GU (13-9, 4-5) hosts WCC foe Santa Clara on Thursday.

Eagles top Weber State

Allie Schumacher had 10 kills and Alexis Wesley and Jessica Gilbert added nine apiece as Eastern Washington swept Weber State (5-15, 1-9) in a Big Sky Conference match in Ogden, Utah. Scores were 25-13, 25-20 and 25-18.

Nicole Rigoni added 36 assists and seven digs for the first-place Eagles (13-8, 8-2), who hold a two-match lead over Idaho in the BSC standings.

Eastern hosts Montana on Thursday and Montana State on Friday.

Idaho State snaps Idaho’s five-match win streak

Idaho’s five-match win streak came to an end with a straight-set loss to Idaho State (17-7, 9-1) in a Big Sky Conference match in Pocatello, Idaho. Scores were 25-16, 26-24 and 25-18.

Katelyn Peterson had eight kills and 10 digs for the Vandals (9-13, 6-4), who host Montana State on Thursday.

North Idaho sweeps Eastern Utah

Julia Silva had 10 kills and six blocks to lead North Idaho (8-11, 6-3) past Eastern Utah (12-15, 3-7) in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match in Price, Utah. Scores were 25-19, 30-28 and 25-21.

NIC’s Brenna Meehan added seven kills and 10 digs.
