Tyler Frost went 4 for 5, including a home run, and Gonzaga used a 15-hit attack to take a 10-5 victory and a series sweep over Pacific on Sunday in Stockton, California.

Frost knocked in two runs with Jeffrey Bohling also hitting a home run and driving in three.

The Bulldogs used seven hits in scoring six runs in the fourth inning. Pacific cut the lead to one run before Frost hit a two-run homer in the seventh and Bohling did the same in the eighth.

Justin Vernia (1-2), the second of three Gonzaga pitchers, picked up the win. Starter Hunter Wells struck out eight in 4 1/3 innings.

Linfield 5, Whitworth 2: The Wildcats (17-13, 9-9 Northwest) hit three home runs and held Whitworth to five hits in beating the Pirates in McMinnville, Oregon.

The Pirates (21-6, 13-5) lost their second conference series of the year but hold a two-game lead over second-place Pacific.

Ryan Kingma (6-1) suffered his first loss, tossing five innings and allowing five earned runs on seven hits. He struck out one and walked one.

Matthew Nelson hit a solo homer for Whitworth.

Washington 3, Oregon State 2 (12): Levi Jordan drove in Alex Galgano from second base with a single to left field in the 12th inning and the Huskies (14-10, 5-4 Pac-12) went on to beat the Beavers (19-7, 5-4) in Corvallis, Oregon.

Softball

Whitworth 2-8, Puget Sound 0-1: Michelle Silva had a two-run double in the first game and Shannon Wessel slugged a three-run homer and drove in four runs in the second as the Pirates (22-9, 14-6 Northwest) swept the Loggers (9-20, 3-16) in Tacoma.

Makayla Lefever (13-3) threw a three-hit shutout, giving up one walk and striking out three. Madi Perez (8-6) pitched six scoreless innings in the second game.

First-place Whitworth, ranked 25th, has a three-game lead in the standings over four other schools.

Washington 6, Arizona 2: Lake City HS graduate Casey Stangel (3-2) pitched 5 2/3 innings and drove in three runs and the No. 11 Huskies (22-8, 3-5 Pac-12) defeated the 18th-ranked Wildcats (23-11, 5-3) in Seattle.

Rowing

Washington State had a second-place finish and Gonzaga a fourth in Sunday’s Grand Finals at the San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay.

WSU was second in the Novice Eight Grand Final, finishing in 7:26.759 over the 2,000-meter course, 16 seconds back of Texas.

Gonzaga’s biggest highlight was a fourth place in the Second Varsity in 7:07.479, just behind USC (7:07.076). California won with WSU taking sixth.

WSU was fifth in the Varsity Invitational in 6:58.477 and Gonzaga sixth in 7:01.894 with Cal winning in 6:49.468. WSU was sixth in the Varsity Four.

Gonzaga also had fourth place in the Open Grand Final in 7:26.251, and a second in the Varsity Four Petite Final in 7:54.638, less than four seconds back of Tennessee.
