New faces lead Spokane Indians to win over Salem-Keizer

KEIZER, Oregon – Newcomers guided the Spokane Indians to a 6-4 win over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes on Thursday, leading off a five-game Northwest League series.

Leody Taveras drove in two runs and Anderson Tejeda was 3 for 5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Both players were called up from Texas’ Arizona Rookie League affiliate on Wednesday.

Spokane’s Carlos Garay broke a 3-all deadlock in the fifth inning, doubling to left field to score Preston Scott. Charles LeBlanc later scored on a wild pitch by S-K’s Mac Marshall to hand the Indians a 5-3 lead.

The Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Taveras scored on Marshall’s wild pitch in the first and Taveras hit an RBI single to center in the second.
