Deer Park home burns; no injuries reported

Fire destroyed a Deer Park home Saturday afternoon, but no one was injured and pets inside the residence were able to escape.

Spokane County Fire District 4 and South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue responded to the call that came in from 3211 E. Eloika Lake Road just after 2:30 p.m. The home was fully involved, and the roof collapsed shortly after crews arrived, District 4 Assistant Chief Lonnie Rash said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but the homeowners arrived while firefighters were using four engines and five water tenders to put out the flames. Crews were able to save a nearby shop, Rash said.

The home was a total loss, Rash said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
