Gonzaga forward Kiara Kudron was named West Coast Conference player of the week Monday after her standout performances against Washington State on Thursday and Eastern Washington on Sunday.

The redshirt senior notched her fourth-career double-double, with a season-high 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 10 rebounds, agianst the Eagles in Cheney. She added two assists, two steals and a block. She was nearly perfect at the foul line, with five makes out of six attempts.

Kudron also pulled down eight boards and had six points, two assists and a block against the Cougars at the McCarthey Athletic Center last week.

Across both games, Kudron shot 58 percent from the field and hit 83 percent of her shots at the foul line.

“I am so honored and humbled to receive this award from the WCC. I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support and hard work of my teammates and dedication of my coaches,” Kudron said in a statement on Monday.

Kudron is 13th in the WCC this season for rebounds, averaging 6.6 boards in nine games, and is fourth in field goal percentage, shooting 59 percent.

It is the first time Kudron has been named WCC’s player of the week. She joins teammate Jill Barta, who was awarded player of the week on Nov. 21 following her performance against then-No. 11 Stanford on Nov. 18.

In that showing, Barta led the Zags with 26 points against the Cardinal, shooting 80 percent (8 of 10) from the field and hitting all three of her shots at 3-point range.
